Two New York Metropolitan Area newspapers have reported a conclusive criminal outcome in a case stemming from an elaborate plot to defraud backers of a musical based on Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.
In late July, Mark C. Hotton, the defendant in a civil action brought by Schlam Stone & Dolan, LLP, on behalf of the producers of the Broadway musical Rebecca, has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges. Hotton admitted to creating fictitious investors and arranging a sham loan for the production, according to published reports.
